About Us

Jeremy Laundergan, founder of Askeland Engineering, grew up on the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. During the many voyages aboard his father's Cal T/4, and while crewing on race yachts around Lake Superior, Jeremy established his desire to design pleasure boats.

Jeremy has a Bachelor of Science degree in  Industrial Engineering from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a Masters of Science in Engineering Management from California State University, Long Beach.

Jeremy worked as a USCG Licensed Charter Master at Sailboats Inc. in Superior, Wisconsin while pursuing his bachelor's degree. In this position, he made contact with Corsair Marine in Chula Vista, California and interned with their engineering department.

After graduation, Jeremy founded Askeland Engineering fulfilling his ambition to establish a boat design and engineering firm. Over the past ten years, he worked on multiple Projects. with Morrelli & Melvin Design & Engineering, the renowned multihull design firm in Huntington Beach, California.

Jeremy held an Engineer / Scientist position with Boeing Space Systems Composite Development in Huntington Beach, California for four years. In this position, he helped to develop composite structures for the Delta II, III and IV family of Expendable Launch Vehicles. Jeremy was also a member of the Boeing corporate Synergy Team which assessed the capabilities of all Boeing composite fabrication facilities.

Jeremy actively sails his Waterat  A-Class 18' 160 lb. single-handed catamaran which he co-designed with Pete Melvin, of Morrelli & Melvin. Pete subsequently won the 1997 A-Class World Championships with this design. Jeremy and Pete introduced their second A-Class catamaran design, the Nacra A2, in 2004. Pete Melvin won the 2004 USACA North American Championship with the Nacra A2 and the boat won the prestigious Sailing World 2004 Performance Boat of the Year award.
